Soles 4 Souls

Posted by Ashley Plant |

This Thanksgiving, UGA students in the Institute for Leadership Advancement, partnering with the Athens-Clarke County Recycling Division, invite you to step up and help Soles4Souls harvest 250,000 pairs of shoes for the poor. This initiative will go through Monday, November 30th, the day after we all get back from Thanksgiving Break.

Americans have over 1.5 billion pairs of shoes in our closets, and it's time we take the extra pairs and give them to people who will treasure them for years to come.  Soles4Souls, the shoe charity, needs our help to make the Thanks4Giving program a HUGE success in Georgia and across the country. This unique event will touch the lives of thousands of individuals during the fall season, when most of us are enjoying the warmth and safety of our homes, families and friendships. Of course, there are millions of people without any of these, and during the upcoming holidays we are working to provide much-needed relief in an otherwise bleak time.

What type of shoes are accepted in the Thanks4Giving program?
All gently worn shoes from men, women and children are accepted - from tennis shoes to dress shoes – all are accepted.  Please connect the matching pair of shoes together with a rubber band or the laces of the shoes themselves.

You can drop shoes off in Soles4Souls drop boxes placed at the following UGA campus locations:
UGA Wesley Foundation, Brumby Hall, Creswell Hall, Ohouse, Myers Hall, the Main Library, the Science Library, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Kappa Psi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta.

When you go home for Thanksgiving break, grab your family's extra shoes too! Thank you so much! Every pair counts!
